Currently can be divided into RGB-LED and white LED. The former utilizes the capability of dynamic partition backlight technology and the excellent light source of three-color RGB LED, which has a qualitative leap in color and contrast compared with traditional backlight. Therefore, it is usually applied to high-end TV products, and the general cost is more than 3W yuan. The latter is a relatively common type of LED backlight, which is also widely used in notebooks and liquid crystal displays. White LED backlights usually use light from the edge of the display screen, which is different from the backside of RGB LEDs and traditional backlights.


According to the incident position of the backlight:


The LED backlight module is divided into two types according to the incident position of the light source: a direct type and a side type, and can be roughly classified into a direct type RGB-LED, a direct type white light LED, and a side light type white light LED.


The difference between RGB-LED and white LED:


The RGB LED color gamut performs slightly better. The disadvantage is that the cost is higher. The price of the finished TV product is still difficult for ordinary consumers to accept. The white LED light source, although slightly lower in color gamut than the RGB LED, has a relatively high contrast ratio. And the cost of technology is unmatched by RGB-LED.


The difference between direct type and side entry type:


The LED side light source emits light from both sides of the fuselage, and the light is projected onto the panel through the built-in high transmittance light guide plate. Limiting the thickness of the LCD is the thickness of the fluorescent lamp. The side light source is located at the projection position on both sides, so that it does not occupy the space of the TV thickness.


Compared to the side light source, the direct-lit backlight LED can dynamically control the backlight so that when representing images of some dark scenes, it is only necessary to adjust the necessary backlight area (the black or dark portion on the screen). Partial lighting, which shows a high-quality image with light and dark contrasts.


Objectively speaking, various positions and light sources have technical advantages. Different trade-offs can be achieved through different trade-offs. However, the LED LCD TV is still in the lead-in period, and the direct-lit RGB LED is not well reflected in the cost of the whole machine. Therefore, edge-lit white LEDs are a more reasonable solution at this stage.
